Hi All,
Thanks for all the concern about Cyclone Winston in Fiji this past weekend. We’ve been receiving many phone calls and emails, so we thought we’d send out an update. Here is the latest. The main island was hit hard, but all are safe in Suva and the Gospel School for the Deaf. The fence and gate at the main hostel were damaged in the high winds, but that’s about it. We have not yet received any reports on the school, but we assume damages were minimal there as well. The important thing is that everyone is safe. Today we received an email from Phil Parsons at CMML (Christian Missions in Many Lands), with news that CMML has funds to help pay for damages caused by the cyclone. Jim just got off the phone with Tema, our hostel director. Power has been restored, and the hostels have plenty of food and water. Water is being boiled just to be safe. School has been cancelled for the week, and the hostel staff has already planned activities for the children for the week. All is fine, everyone is safe, and we give thanks for that. We will be leaving on Monday, Feb. 29th, for Fiji. Jim and Marilyn
